When and to whom is a benefit paid?
In the event of the death of one of your insured immediate family members, the funeral benefit will be paid directly into your bank account. However, in the event of your death, the insured funeral benefit is paid directly to whomever you have nominated to receive the benefit when you complete your funeral benefit beneficiary nomination form. Always ensure that the details on your funeral benefit beneficiary nomination form are updated as and when your personal circumstances change as this benefit is paid strictly in accordance with your wishes.
In terms of legislation if you have not submitted a funeral beneficiary nomination form, the benefit must be paid to your estate. This could result in financial hardship for your family as they may find themselves unable to finance the cost of the funeral as the payment of the insurance proceeds will have to await the lengthy processes involved in winding up an estate. If there is no Will, the process could be delayed even further!
• Beneficiaries must be 18 years of age or older. |
